A corporation is owned by multiple shareholders and is overseen by a board of directors, which hires the business's managerial staff. (i.e Microsoft Corporation). This model of business functioning is contrasted with socialistic systems, which involve either government, public, or worker ownership of most sizable businesses.
Although forms of business ownership vary by country and local government, there are other common forms of business ownership like Sole proprietorship (a business owned by one person).
If you feel like monitoring your own business, then go for it!
