Several weeks ago Bing rolled out their search to Yahoo, meaning that if you are USA based you will get the same search results in Yahoo as you do in Bing.
This is gradually going to be rolled out across all the Yahoo geo specific platforms and should be here in the UK within 2-6 weeks assuming all goes smoothly.
So?
So as a webmaster this could mean either a drop in website traffic or an increase in website traffic. You would do well to analyse your website traffic to see what phrases from each search engine you rank for and brings you in visitors. If Yahoo does better for you than Bing you could be looking at a decrease in website traffic however if you rank better in Bing for traffic generating phrases then as Yahoo has a larger % of the search market than Bing you could well see an increase in traffic.
A lot of webmasters will say, "So what?, Yahoo and Bing have less than a 25% share of the search market so this will not mean much to my business, we rely on Google for our traffic"
Essentially what they are saying is "we do not need a potential 10% boost in sales"
Do you need a 10% boost in sales? Because if you rank well in Bing over Yahoo this is what it could mean to you. :-)
