Can you copyright recipes...

Hi all

Bit of an odd question this, but is it possible to copyright things like recipes?

Not sure if it's the sort of thing that you could protect, but I'm putting some work into typing up some of my own recipes at the moment with a view to placing them online at some stage, and wondering if there is any way to protect them before doing so?

Hi.............,
I think recipes can't really be copyrighted that is, that ingredients and methods can't be: but the exact wording is protected.

Not sure - but many recipes are 'secret' and have a 'special ingredient' that no-one knows about (or so the brands claim anyway), so looks like there is some concept of intellectual property in the recipe/how to make food market.

Hi Lianne

I imagine that the instructions on how to make a dish you could - as in the specific wording - whether a list of items such as "2 eggs, 30grams of flour" etc you could copyright I'm not so sure!
