Cloud computing... has anyone addressed the really big issue as to what happens when network connections go down, as they invariably do?

Does the whole world grind to a halt and no-one can do anything?

Or when the servers that hold all the information in the cloud get hacked and everything is deleted?

At least with storing a lot of stuff on your own machine you can still get on with your work if the connection goes down or you are in an area where you cannot get connected for whatever reason...
