Do you know what Shill is?...

I try to spread details of my website to different Blogs and Forums, making postings etc. But there are companies which use intensive marketing techniques. Found this interesting definition on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill

Anyway this can be controlled?

I've never heard the word shill, but this practice is as old as the hills.

The most commonly deleted type of post by moderators on forums such as these after straightforward spam is from someone who pretends to be unrelated to a site or product and endorses it. Here's the classic:

"Hi Guys I'm new to this forum but I just had to share with you this fantasticially brilliant product at notmyownsitehonestly.com which you must all own it changed my life in minutes... thanks!"

In the offline world plants have always been used to. Ever seen a musician play in a shopping centre and then someone comes up as soon as they finish to buy the CD? Then lots of other people start buying too... in many cases this initial person is a plant too as the sheep or herd mentality then kicks in and many other people think 'hmm I want to buy that too'.
