Domains on Ebay for £20,000!!!!...

I've been keeping an eye on the prices domains have been selling for recently and have found some staggering business being done.

A couple of weeks ago, www.britainsgottalent .co.uk went for a stagering £100,000 on a auction site.

Just browsing around last week I saw dollars.com go for 850,000 euros, and a bunch of domains on ebay between £2-£20,000

Who makes these prices, and sees the value in these sites? and the domains that are selling- are they worth it?

Vegaspokerleague on ebay I can understand, along with hooterspoker. com seem quite good, but $2.5 million for ictsecurity.us seems crazy!

what are your thoughts?

If the name fits your niche, then you'll pay. Otherwise you'll walk away.
Asking prices aren't always achieved.

I know a chap who sold a name for $1 million, but it took him 6 six years to find a buyer.

I can believe all of this - staggering...but it is so important to brands / messages etc...

Those prices are very high. Unfortunately if someone really wants a domain they forget about its real worth and are prepared to pay much more than the asking price. I'm sure there are some very happy domain name owners out there!

I'm also sure for every delighted person there are thousands who think their domains are worth a small fortune who will never get offered more than few pounds for any of their domains no matter how long they hold onto them

Sounds like if people want to raise money at the moment then selling domains they have had sitting around for a while would be the only possible way to do it!
