Exchange rates and the weak pound...

Just wondering how the weakening pound is affecting companies and small businesses in general. Does it make much difference, will it lead to financial strains on your company, or is it actually a good thing?

What gets me is that if the dollar and other currencies are supposed to struggling then how on earth is the world perceiving us at the moment if our currency is slumping, it must be considered even worse than the other ones!

Hi Sasha,

I work for a currency broker in the UK and i have many clients that are really struggling with the current status of the Pound. With the Pound still looking like it will decrease further import companies are seeing their profits diminish.

With the pound currently at 1.10 against the Euro and 1.4950 against the Dollar (which is expected to fall forwards the mid 1.40s) It is a depressing state of affairs.

A lot of the companies i help with their current transactions are downsizing and closing, which cant be good for anyone. Not trying to be negative but it looks like it is going to get worse before it gets better and which the current election coming up and no clear leader it only spells trouble to the Pound.

As a freelance writer I have clients in the US who pay in dollars. So I like the exchange rate because a dollar is worth more.
