Hi all,

I run a network of local community websites which covers the whole of the UK. We have over 1480 websites and are still expanding. We offer free listings for businesses which includes a free link to your site. If you are interested or just fancy taking a look at your local area, visit www.inuklocal.co.uk. Any suggestions and comments welcome!

Thanks!

Hi Amy

Have you received much feedback so far - and if so has it been useful?

Hi Amy,

I thought I recognised that website from somewhere.
I've actually registered my business on there already. It does look good, like the little community info that's on there.

Can you only list in one region or if you offer services nationwide could you list in more than one?

Hi,

Actually a very good point chris> cause I wouldn't mind being able to put my details in more than one area too...

OK, well I think a slightly more sophisticated look and feel might be an idea. Although I like simple and elegant layouts, I think that header graphic looks a bit basic - a nice, professionally made logo would re-assure me slightly.

In terms of the content, taxonomy and layout, I think it all looks logical. But I think a visitor to the site who has a few seconds to decide if they want to find out more or not they need a clearer statement of "what's in it for me" - why should I click through to my local area page, and what should I do when I get there and why should I bother doing it?

I think those are the sorts of questions that people ask, and if they are addressed up front for first time visitors to the site then it might help increase interest.

Hope these ideas are helpful in some way

Dan

I've had a quick look at the site and would tend to agree with Dan's comments above.

Above and beyond that, I personally I think the look and feel of the site is quite amateur, and that makes me wary of going much worther.

I think investing some money on a really good graphic and getting some help with the layout would be really worth it - a site like that has to look visually appealing I think to increase the chance of people exploring further.

Tim
