Getting / registering a Trademark...

Hi all

Does anyone know how to go about registering a trademark in the UK... and also is there a way for it to apply internationally or is that not possible?

Said I'd look into it for a friend so any info would be useful even just links to where to find out more.

There's lots of useful information on all sorts of things on the government websites; the only downside is the layout of them is usually confusing and difficult so it takes a while to find what you are after!

I thought government sites were normally down these days because someone has compromised login details to most of 'em
