Hiya,

I really need some help on this too. In the space of a week, I've dropped down from number one on Google for my keywords to number 70, and am not sure why. Does anyone have any good advice?

Thanks
Simon

Simon

My advice would be fairly straight forward.

1. Have a serious re-vamp of your website, making sure it's user/search engine friendly, currently it's nothing more than a electronic version of a business card. To do well in a competitive arena we need to offer much much more.

2. Make sure each page of your website targets good quality keywords.

3. Incorporate a geo-specific element that covers the local areas to Northampton.

4. Get a good quality link building campaign started

5. Get involved with social media.

6. Improve branding by getting involved with offline networking groups.

7. Have affiliation to local government organisations.

Have a around here you should find some interesting information www.businessservicesuk.com

Hi Lisa,

You appear to have had no direct answer to your question so here it is:

- make sure that you have completed your Google maps profile fully i.e. 100%
- register your business on the free business directories - Google cross-references the information on Google Places with other directories to ensure that you are a genuine business
- get some satisfied customers to post reviews and testimonials on the internet - Google picks these up and favours businesses with reviews

If you do these things you should beat your competitors.

Some good advice from Pete and Mark here.

Simon - dropping from number one to number seventy is a big old drop; were you using the same site both times? e.g. google.co.uk vs .com?

It sounds like there could be some other reason for a drop as large as that.

To start performing better you need to gradually build up content on your site. Aim to add a new article to your site written by yourself every few days and remember to have a tightly defined topic to each page with a clear meta description, title and H1 (first heading tag) to each page.

Hi,

Hi guys, we are experts in local and national SEO and I’m going to run a series of Live video guides.
What I mean by live is a video, searching an url then buying it, building a site then seoing it, with the result at the end of the video being the website top of Google.
Please give your thoughts and be kind! lol.

This Tutorial is to help businesses reach the top of Google, its not sales driven and there’s no hidden catches.

This is a step by step guide LIVE!

Please pass this on and or like it on You Tube/Facebook/linked in.

Thank you in advance

Just a little side note, do you have a Google Places listing? This helps with local search.

Add your business to local and national business directories where your address can be added and make sure to include your address on your website.
