Health and safety law help - small business...

Hi

I'm going to be starting a business soon, initially with just one other employee.

My question is around health and safety - what sort of things do I need to consider, if any?

I have read there is a health and safety in the workplace poster, for example, that you can purchase - but do I really need this with just the two of us, or is that only if you have a company with, say, ten or more people in?

Any information you could provide would be much appreciated!

Thanks for your help in advance,

Jim

You have to display the poster if you have even just the one employee. You also need to carry insurance both public and employer's liability. Have a written health and safety policy and carry out risk assessments. If you provide some more information on the nature of the business I can also provide a check list for you.
