How would you market something new?...

I often wonder which is the best way to market something that very few people think about. Selling a product is easier, selling a service that has many benefits but is not really considered important, that is, until something goes wrong, then it could be too late.

So the question is how to market this unknown service?

Marketing is never easy for even the most sellable things. If you have a great idea then be confident about it. Social media is a great way for you to explain all the advantages of the service and the needs of it without having to put it into 1 picture or 1 article.

Not necessarily. This is what a website should do...

Once again, social media is a spoke to the hub (website) and as such, should be used accordingly.

There are a number of options, one option is to send out press releases to publications that you feel will be interested, other options are to send out press releases online to gain an online exposure, and you also have the option to arrange open days to showcase your service and also invite the press along to gain local media attention.

The best way is to use a mix of everything.

The first thing you need to do is build a web-site & have it SEO'd for key phrases related to the service you are offering. Remember, your solution may be new, but the problem will most probably be old so there will be some kind of traffic that will be suitable for your web-site to start things off.

Then use social media to talk about your product/service, but alway slink back to your site.

Joining forums relating to your product or the problem it solves is one of the best things you could do, as you will be able to market directly to your target audience.

Write articles & press releases about your product & submot them to articles & PR sites/directories.
