Internet Explorer 7...

Anyone else having problems with software crashing after installing Internet Explorer 7?

I'm using NTL and it seems to crash and conflict with Broadband Medic on NTL - looks like one of them is going to have to go but which?

Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix this without one of them having to be uninstalled...

Jim

Hi Jim

Same as you - I get an error message on start up too and from searching it seems to be something to do with the Broadband Medic.

Annoying but hasn't taken the whole system down yet (fingers crossed!) Sorry no idea how to fix it, the site I saw said you just had to uninstall it to stop the error.

Sounds familiar - same as above, again!

I'm sure NTL will be delighted that it's causing everyone to uninstall the broadband medic thing.

Hi

Just found a solution to get this to work without de-installing the Broadband Medic.

Locate the folder called SmartBridge within the Broadband Medic folder on your computer (in program files / broadband medic on my system).

Then simply rename the file it complains about to dsapiOLD.dll or some other name.

Then when you restart your system there should be no error and broadband medic loads fine

Thanks for the tip, Jim - I've had a few messages from clients about this in the last couple of days so it's good to be able to point them to this.

Thanks!

Tim

Now most of us will have had a chance to download it, what are people's opinions of IE7 compared to the previous versions? Do you use the tabbed navigation option?

I use it all the time - the tabs are very useful. However, either my laptop or IE starts to struggle when I have ten or more tabs open at any one time. It is pretty much the same as firefox.

I find the tabs really useful - saves having loads of windows opened at once.

I'm not sure what the other changes are though? Guess they are more behind the scenes perhaps!

Never had as many as ten tabs yet though like Roksana, I'll set myself that challenge and see if it starts to struggle here too

Roksana - would you ever need 10 tabs open at once! Don't think I could keep up with that either!

Why not try Firefox instead. I use it all of the time and think it's much better anyway. Lots of plug-ins are available as well for various applications.

Lee

Which plugins do you use the most / find the most useful?

Might be useful information for any of our members who use Firefox
