Is it just me or could AMB use a few more users?...

I joined here not all that long ago. As a few others, I found my way here from Ecademy. Since joining I have found it a nicely laid out and a user friendly place to be. A few little bugs here n there but overall the coders have done a good job on it.

However! As I know very well with my site www.smartbarter.co.uk , it's only half the battle done when a site is developed. Getting users is the next problem.

Whats the plans for this place? Seems to me that it needs an influx of users to get on board, suggest changes and really get the place running a bit. Just need to get some momentum going

Why not use the current userbase to get ten friends to join each, or, 20, 30... Some nice incentives should spur people on a bit. Also, what about a suggestion and bug reporting tool/option?

Thoughts?

Matt

Hi Matt

I agree with all of that 100% - please can you send me a private message with information on any of the little bugs you've found so we can fix them?

Any ideas you have on getting more people to post also much appreciated - of the user base currently only 10% have ever posted in the forums which is a real shame... a large number just list in the business directory and then only come back if they receive a private message from another member, meaning that around 600 members are totally inactive in terms of forum participation.

Thanks

OK I am guilty.

It seems that I signed up some time ago and then forgot all about it.

I will try to be more active now because I do believe that these forums are very useful but like anything, it has to produce results and in my case that means measurable traffic to the business coaching blog http://businesscoaching.typepad.com

Hi Paul

Are you able to measure how many people come to your site as a result of your posts here? Presumably if the link opens in a new window there is no way of telling, though I might be completely wrong on that

I look at the list of new members from time to time and it always seems there a steady four or five people coming each day, however I think the majority of them don't post.

This is probably the case with most forums so it is, I guess, simply a numbers game... eventually you get enough that consistent conversations get going... how to speed up the process though I have no idea

It would certainly be great to have some more members, though there seem to have developed a nice set of 'regular' posters here.

I suppose the easiest way to build referrals as someone suggested is asking people to recommend their friends in business join - as it's free they should not be guilty about cost... the thing is how to actually convince people to ask their friends to join!?

I've just invited a few friends to join... perhaps everyone should do the same!

Just invited five earlier this morning - I was going to aim for ten but I don't seem to have that many friends for whom a business orientated site was relevant, no idea if any of them will join lol

It does seem to have been fairly busy recently which is good to see!

I've also started to notice a higher number of hits to my profile and private messages in the last few months.
