MSN Live Search...

When I first started my webpage back in late december, within two weeks I was indexed in MSN, and i got up to 16 pages by the beginnning of February.

Suddenly after that all my pages dissapeared, and only my homepage remained. I have since submitted a sitemap and improved site navigation, and have checked to make sure I had a 4/5 page rank in MSN, and was not blocked... all these things are fine.

Has anyone else had a simular problem or any idea what might cause this? MSN help has no answers, and very little service.

There are search engines other than google?

Sorry I can't help... but if you were getting traffic from those rankings I hope they come back for you!

MSN is a strange beast, and rankings can shift all over the place for seemingly little explanation; it also has a problem with the relevance of results it returns, google does a much better job.

Two years ago we were on the first page of MSN for certain keywords. Then we suddenly disappeared, we contacted MSN who only directed us to the webmaster site. There was nothing wrong but all references top our website disappeared. One month ago MSN Bot started indexing us again. We are starting to appear again.
It seems that MSN has a mind of its own, I do not think there is anything that can be done. If you go onto the MSN Webmasters forum you will find a hell of a lot of people complaining about this.

Part of the reason I never use MSN search is that I find it completely random what sites get returned for the same search from time to time, it really needs to emulate however Google ranks sites to ever have me consider using it again.

Just for an update, I have noticed my most surfed pages are starting to appear in MSN. There seems to be a method to thier madness.

Speaking of search engines, has anyone used Yahoo?

I was stupid enough to try it out again earlier today for the first time in ages... the results were all shockingly bad, I mean genuinely very little relevance to the searches I performed. No wonder everyone uses google!

I never bother with MSN or Yahoo as 80% of people use Google in the UK, there is little point!

MSN are apparently in the process of launching a new version of their search engine (According to the weekend paper)

Google is the only worthwhile search engine, if you want relevant results returned. Some of the sites that come top for important searches in the other engines can often beggar belief.

Google is the only worthwhile engine because of it's popularity, take that away and then what?

MSN's new browser, Bing, shows a few signs of promise but is nothing special yet, stay with google for now.
