You will need, like everyone else, to build an online presence.

Create a nice looking, fast loading website explaining your small business and what it does, then try to add new and original content on a regular basis.

It won't be easy but it should bring success in the long term.

The first thing you need for an online presence, as already stated here, is a website. Plenty of hosting providers offer you website building tools, I used www.freevirtualservers.co.uk and they have an online website builder you can use for free.

Once you have a website up and running there are a few other things you can do to build an online presence. Blogging is incredibly popular in the business community and companies employ staff specifically for blogging and online social media. Create an account with blogspot or someone like that and get started writing articles about the subjects your business deals with. Join some forums related to your business and make sure your signature has your weblink in it.

There's also paid for online advertising such as Google Adwords or other search engine placement. This should drive traffic to your website and get you some custom. You could also register with the online directories, free and paid for, www.freeindex.co.uk for instance.

The most obvious way to get an online presence is by setting up a web-site BUT remember a web-site on its own is not enough; themost important thing is to get as much genuine traffic to it, from potential customers.

For this you will need to get your web-site optimised so that it comes high up on search engines.

Another good way of getting targetted traffic is by joing forums which are related to your business or products you are trying to sell & have your web-site in your signature.

Great advice here!

I also will add that you need training on how to optimize your website.

There is a lot of info out there.

So skip it all so you don't go crazy and find someone that would be willing to help you for free.

There are great articles in the forums and great tips as well.
