If your website is your business and you have no physical address other than for purposes of mail collection - does listing your address on every web page and then listing in all business directories improve your traffic in any way.

I can't see how listing an address could have any significant impact on website traffic... search engines index content on a site and then people search against the data and relevant results are returned

Listing your business address in the footer of a website is beneficial for numerous reasons.

Presumably a link needs to come from a page with pagerank to have benefit, or is that not the case?

Listing displaying your physical address would not increase the traffic to your website in itself.

Directory listings doesn't improve traffic. It can add up to your link building. You should use social media optimization for traffic generation.

Directory listings can improve traffic, but they have to be one of the 0.0001% of directories that are often used and valued still by other search engines. There are usually one or two massive directories per industry it is great to get into and also still some major generic listings that are taken seriously.

It's very useful to add your business address to the bottom of every webpage in your site as it allows visitors to see that you're legitimate.

If you want to build up trust then make sure you link from your home page to - privacy policy - contact us - about us .if you want web trust lower your alexa rank ,theres people on ebay selling this service if needed. advertising in places such as gumtree or other local services directories is good for 2 things -real people searching for a business and also for ranking on google to push out another competitor . real trust from real people will only come when you are trusted to do what you say .

Displaying your address will not help with SEO directly but Google likes to see a contact page including your address or you could get penalised (pushed down the ranks) so to avoid this which would be detremental to SEO efforts your address on your contact page is essential

I think it's a bit confusing, but it is technically the case that the 'lower' the alexa rank (as in the lower the number) actually the more traffic you have, in other words the site listed number 1 is better than the site listed 100, so it has a lower rank... although it is a higher rank in another sense... confusing
