The effects of the Global Credit Crunch! Are you concerned or impacted??

Well, we want to know your views. We are a research function of RSA Insurance Group Plc and would like to know you views on the following:-

Have your purchase behaviours changed because of the economic downturn? If so, how?
Has your faith/trust in insurance changed?
What are you looking for in an insurance product?

Any responses to the above post will be used internally by RSA. By replying to the post, you are giving consent for RSA to use this data internally for research purposes only. This is not a sales exercise and NO sales or marketing activity will be run of the back of this.

Many thanks,
Terri

The credit crunch is just the aperitif. The real problems are going to start when the actions being taken to combat it make themselves felt; especially here in the UK. 'Quantative Easing' is a polite term for the debasement of the currency. A ten pound note for example represents nothing more than a very small share of the economy. If more ten pound notes are printed in the absence of a corresponding increase in the economy they will evetually become less valuable than they were before. It's that simple. Because the US and Europe are all in a mess too at the moment this will not seem to matter. However as one or more serious overseas economies recover, with the US being the prime candidate it will begin to matter. That ten pound note will then be in for a very bumpy ride.

Having just come back from a holiday in Europe and seeing how expensive everything is with the extraordinary devaluation of the pound, you're spot on there Joe

I think everyone is concerned.

However these things do go in cycles, and so it is often a case of riding things out and waiting for the upturn to kick in, as it almost certainly will eventually.

I agree with Lianne, what goes up must come down (and then go up... and then down)

The pound now seems to be doing better again - certainly against the dollar at least. I can only think this is a reflection that the dollar is appallingly weak given that our economy is still in a huge mess!
