Virtual Assistant - good idea?...

When I finally get my business up and running in a few months, I am considering the best way to have things like calls, sending out invoices etc managed.

One thing I have come across is the concept of a virtual assistant as opposed to a 'real life' secretary.

Anyone know more about exactly what services they would and wouldn't provide or more info on this...
