What's happened to this sites SE ranking?...

My profile from this site used to be on the 1st/2nd page of Google on a search for 'find accountants' but I've recently noticed it has dropped way down the ranks.

Why is this? It seemed to have happened when the design of this site changed, so is it something to do with that?

Has anyone else had the same problem?

These places are no good for link building, SE exposure, eventually posts work their way too far back.

Interesting point about rankings. For all of us on the web, internet prominence is crucial. Does anyone know what may have happened here?

It's not my forum posts which have dropped in SE's, but it's my actual business profile from this site, which was always on the 1st/2nd page of Google!

Interesting - personally I am getting more views than I used to... searching google.co.uk for my name comes up at 7. Maybe it's just a cycle?

Although I don't do it myself, I would recommend adding lots more text content to your profile.

As Peter will no doubt agree, it is all about content - if you have hardly any content on your profile then it is less likely to get a good ranking than if it has lots of quality content on it.

That's right Tim, although you are struggling if you expect people to find you via other sites. The aim should be to drive traffic to your own website, this is in your control, external sites are not.
