Options to get a new website marketed online?...

Hi

I am running out of steam and ideas! I have set-up a free banner exchange website called http://www.whambanners.com and I am trying to publicise it. I have spent days adding it to online directories etc but am now running out of ideas. Anyone got any suggestions on ways they have had success with free online publicity for their sites?

I think the problem with websites such as banner exchanges is getting lots of text based content and articles - these are what the search engines need, and ultimately visitors, to come along and get momentum... perhaps adding some content along those lines would help.
