Business Bank Accounts: why make you choose?...

Looking around the different business bank accounts on offer, it seems that many make you choose between either receiving interest on your account OR having to pay for transactions, like paying in cheques and so on.

This seems a bit poor from the big banks given there are a few out there where you get interest and free business banking. I wish the big ones would buck up their ideas as it's easier to open a business account with someone you already have an account with!

The reality is that it was only after the CCI changes a few years back that banks had to look into their practices and make any concessions at all - before that free banking and even interest were heady concepts!

Since then most banks have taken the calculated risk that if they offer one or the other then they will retain or still get enough new business that it is still better for them to do that then offer fully free banking.

Thanks, Chris. I suppose with personal banking being free I just took it for granted that business banking would be free everywhere too...clearly I was wrong, however!
