Business Networking - Advice...

Hi there

Does anyone have any recommendations as for useful business networking events for a small business owner to attend?

I have heard about things such as breakfast over business clubs - are these useful? Anyone been to them and what do you think?

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks

Lianne

Hi Lianne

It depends on where you are based. Many local Chamber of Commerce groups hold regular networking events as do Business Link (who will be able to point you in the right direction for the CoC).

You could also do a regional search for 'business Womens' Associations'. I joined one recently and have found it very good.

Let us know how you get on... have a great Christmas

Lianne - it depends where you live! As Sheena says, some Chamber of Commerces are very active, and others sadly are not. There are BNI, BRE and NRG - all breakfast / lunch weekly networks which could be useful - although they can be expensive and commitment heavy. Women's Networks can be more friendly and welcoming too. Let me know your area and I will see if I can recommend any. Best wishes for the New year.

To get anything out of these events you first need to be prepared to talk about your business, have your business cards ready, and be clear about exactly what you want to get out of the meetings. If you have all that in place, then some of the suggestions above will probably be of value to you.

I believe the FSB - if you are a member - also have events on a regular basis.
