I have heard of quite a few cases where people have called the reliability of Vista in to question and have experienced difficulties like you mention above.

It certainly seems to be influencing people's choices: one of my clients recently bought a new laptop and actively decided to stick with an XP model rather than one of the new Vista machines to avoid such issues...

Not a technical person, however I have noticed a fair few articles in the newspapers since Vista launched claiming there are quite a few bugs in it and therefore people sticking with Windows XP machines for now.

I have been using vista for the last 6 months and never had any problems with it. Seems to be an excellent program.

I've been using Vista for 2 months now and have been experiencing some problems here and there. However, it seems pretty good overall and i'm sure the problems will all be fixed comes service pack 1 & 2.

For Garden Fence who has experienced no problems, try unzipping a file using windows own decompresser, notice anything funny ;-)

Hi,
I haven't tried unzipping any files as yet but just like garden fence I have had no problems either. Been using it for about 3 months.

Just bought a Vista based laptop for a Christmas present for someone, so hopefully there will be no problems with it!

It's always hard to separate the fact from the fiction with stories such as this... many people have no doubt had problems but it's hard to scale the true size of the problem from the reaction!

I remember the days before nice and pretty operating systems with graphics and mouses... anyone used to have an Amstrad with that bright green screen or is no-one else here old?!

Hey Lianne

You dont have to be that old to remember those things! We had em at school before windows 3.1 came about with those nasty 186 machines...

I can still remember my excitement when I got my first state of the art colour screen, which meant I could play flight simulator and see more than just white lines on my old 80286.
