What should I expect to pay for a small website?...

Just very much an open question at the moment - no absolute plans for one.

Would just be useful to know what sort of cost is involved in a simple website - quite small, no fancy graphics or animations, no fancy add-ons or extras?

I'm no expert, but from what I've seen in other forums for something very simple you should expect to pay in the region of a few hundred pounds.

Yes, something in the region of the low hundreds. For a basic site certainly you shouldn't need to go the wrong side of 500.
