I don't think there is a legal requirement to have insurance for an ecommerce site

I have an ecommerce site and don't have any liability insurance on it, mind you there's only one order every couple of weeks so it's hardly a cash cow... not sure if there are certain limits or amounts of turnover where some sort of insurance is mandatory however; would be interested to know out of interest though doubt I would ever hit such heights if there are! | |

I personally wouldn't trade without product liability insurance in case someone gets injured.
